Malatapay
Market
A seaside market, that is open only on Wednesdays, where local
folks come to sell, trade, and barter foods, house wares, crafts
and animals. You can sample local sea foods, taste "lechon baboy"
(roast pig) and have a cold San Miguel Beer while enjoying
panoramic views of Apo Island and the Mindanao Strait.
Casaroro
Water Falls
After a forty five minute drive past the hillside town of
Valencia, and then a forty five minute hike through virgin
forests, you arrive at one of the highest waterfalls in Negros.
Here clean and clear mountain water plummets 140 feet into a
fern grotto. Take a refreshing swim in the cool pond at the base
of falls and be sure to bring your camera.
Twin Lakes
A trekking
area for the ecologically adventurous and true nature lovers,
this untouched, protected area serves as a watershed to the city
of Dumaguete. Majestic trees, giant ferns and
indigenous greenery surround the pristine lakes of
Balinsasayao and Danao. You can also take a relaxing
native canoe ride and swim in the crystal waters.
Apo Island
Apo island
boasts to have the best variety of corals in the Visayas.
Shallow reefs and unlimited species of sea life make this an
ideal snorkeling area and great place to visit a local fishing
dependent community. The Philippine government declared Apo
Island a protected area and its 700 friendly inhabitants work
together to ensure that the islands resources remain constant.
